Yoga therapy

More than yoga.
A whole-person approach to well-being.

Yoga therapy draws from the full range of yoga practices and teachings—including movement and asana, breath practices, mindfulness, meditation, somatic and body-awareness practices, relaxation, self-inquiry, and yoga philosophy—to create an individualized approach designed to support your unique needs.

Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we look at the whole person—body, mind, breath, emotions, daily life, relationships, and the things that matter most to you. Practices and philosophical teachings are thoughtfully selected and adapted based on your goals, experiences, and current season of life.

What is yoga therapy?

Yoga, adapted to you.

Yoga therapy isn’t about flexibility, athleticism, or getting a pose “right.” It’s an individualized therapeutic approach that begins with you—your experiences, your needs, your strengths, and what you’d like support with.

Together, we identify meaningful goals and explore practices and teachings from yoga that may support greater awareness, connection, and well-being in your everyday life. This may include working with the body and breath, cultivating mindfulness, exploring patterns and perspectives through self-inquiry and yoga philosophy, or creating space for rest and reflection.

An important part of yoga therapy is developing a personalized home practice that supports the goals we’re working toward together. Your practice is designed to fit realistically into your life and may evolve over time as your needs, capacity, and goals change.

There is no single way a yoga therapy practice should look. What we explore is thoughtfully selected and adapted based on your goals, your body, your capacity, and what we’re learning together along the way.

No previous yoga experience is needed. We begin exactly where you are.

Body

Individualized movement, asana, breath, and somatic practices may support mobility, strength, comfort, body awareness, and a deeper connection with your physical experience.

Mind

Mindfulness, meditation, self-inquiry, and yoga philosophy offer opportunities to notice thoughts, patterns, beliefs, and experiences with greater awareness and curiosity.

Heart

Compassion-based practices, reflection, meditation, and yogic teachings may support emotional well-being, self-understanding, connection, and a kinder relationship with yourself.

Daily Life

Together, we identify meaningful goals and develop personalized practices that can be woven into everyday life—supporting you in carrying what we explore in yoga therapy into the moments that matter most.

Areas of support

Yoga Therapy May Support

Yoga therapy can offer individualized support through many seasons of life. Practices are thoughtfully adapted to your needs and may support greater balance, self-awareness, regulation, rest, and connection with your body and overall well-being.

What to expect

Your first sessions, gently.

01

A thoughtful intake

We begin with conversation. We’ll explore what brings you to yoga therapy, what’s happening in your life and health, what matters to you, and what you’d like support with.

02

A individualized plan

Together, we’ll identify a meaningful goal and explore practices selected for your needs, preferences, abilities, and daily life.

03

Practices for everyday life

You’ll leave with simple, realistic practices you can return to between sessions. No complicated routine or hour-long daily practice required.

04

Ongoing support

As you change, your practice can change too. We’ll check in, notice what’s helping, and adjust your plan along the way.

A NOTE ABOUT YOGA THERAPY

Yoga therapy is designed to complement—not replace—the care you receive from your healthcare team.

Yoga therapy does not replace medical care, mental health therapy, physical therapy, or other services provided by licensed healthcare professionals. When appropriate, yoga therapy can be used alongside these services as part of a broader, integrative approach to supporting your health and well-being.

Yoga therapists do not diagnose medical or mental health conditions, prescribe medications, or provide treatment outside their professional scope of practice. If a concern requires care beyond the scope of yoga therapy, you may be encouraged to consult with an appropriate licensed healthcare professional.

My role is to support your yoga therapy journey while honoring the care, expertise, and relationships that may already be part of your wellness team.
